2025 LIGHTS IN THE HEIGHTS General information

Lights in the Heights 2025 will occur on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 6–9 PM. The featured streets this year will be Bayland and Woodland from Studewood to Beauchamp. The public will be able to walk the streets, enjoying the holiday lights and the dozens of musical acts who will be performing along the route.

38th Annual Lights in the Heights neighborhood event is just weeks away! Woodland Heights, a community that has been at the heart of this event since 1987, is once again gearing up to fill the neighborhood with holiday cheer, festive lights, and great music – all made possible by our dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors, including you, our valued residents and homeowners! Your active participation is what makes this event truly special.

With the Bash behind us, we’re now eagerly looking forward to the main event on Saturday, December 13th. The WHCA and our generous volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure that the 2025 Lights in the Heights is truly memorable! This year, the Lights in the Heights committee, with your valuable input, has selected Bayland and Woodland as the official route for the event, with the “anchor” at the Norhill Esplanade. We can’t wait to see the neighborhood come alive with your creative displays!

House lights and displays will be judged on Thursday, December 11th. So get your decorations and lighting displays ready, we’re looking forward to seeing what your imagination designs!

Judging

Judging categories include: Most Crafty, Most Colorful, Most Creative, Most Wattage, Most Religious, Best Single Color, Most Traditional, Best Theme, Most Historical, Pick of the Night, Ho! Ho! Ho!, Most Musical, and Best Movie Themed. Of course, there’s always the potential for ad hoc awards given out to those homes and designs that just needed to be recognized but didn’t quite fit into a category. If your home or block is a winner, a Lights in the Heights award sign will be placed in your yard on Friday December, 12th.

Off Route Nominations

While homes along the route are automatically in the running, we want to reassure everyone that if you’re off the route but want to be part of the fun, you can! You or your neighbor can nominate your home or theirs for the competition by emailing lightsintheheights@ gmail.com so the judges know to include you. Remember, everyone’s participation is what makes this event truly special!

So whether you join your neighbors to win recognition for your block, get creative on your own home, or enter a neighbor in the friendly competition – remember it’s all in good fun to celebrate the holiday season.

The Woodland Heights Civic Association and the Lights in the Heights Committee can’t wait to see everyone out there and wish everyone a very joyous and safe holiday season. Have fun getting creative and stringing up your holiday lights!

Friday Night Lights

Kick off your Lights in the Heights weekend at Friday Night Lights on Friday, December 12 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on the Norhill Esplanade. Join your neighbors around the campfire and toast marshmallows under the glow of the Jurassic Christmas displays.

Favorite beverages include ... adult brews courtesy Eureka Heights Brewery, a Lights in the Heights sponsor, and hot chocolate for all the kiddos. Music will be provided by The Cosmos Street Band. We’ll have a ‘rockin good time’ listening to the Cosmos cover Classic Rock and Blues hits.

Joe Reyes provides vocals, Big Mo Cavazos and Joe Amador add their voices as well as Bass and Guitar to the mix. Then Johnny Cavazos hits the Drums while Drew accompaniess them all on Keyboards! All combined The Cosmos will fill the esplanades with great sounds that might move you to sing along and take a turn to their tunes under the twinkling holiday lights.

You can pick up your LITH ornaments from the LITH booth - and add to your shopping bag with new purchase of more merch which will be on sale all night, so be sure to grab your private party signs and other keepsakes. Some of our generous sponsors will also be at the event to spread the holiday cheer.

And while you are enjoying all the fun, keep your eyes and ears tuned to hear the sound of sleigh bells which could only mean Santa and Mrs. Claus have arrived! Photos will take place at their booth. They’re expected to arrive at 5:30 pm.
