General Meeting

President Felicia Zbranek called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM with seventeen (17) persons in attendance.

 

Board Members present: Vicky Bettis, Pat Hallmark, and Felicia Zbranek.

 

Board Members Absent: R.C. Hayden, George Fereday, Tony Maluski, Sharon Greiff, Chuck Britton, and Beth Martin.

 

Centennial Chairs present: Pat Rutledge and Louise Moss

 

Guest Speaker: Randy Pace from the City of Houston Historic Preservation Department

Randy gave a most interesting talk on historic preservation, and outlined the requirements to have neighborhoods and buildings declared historic.  All of the information and applications can be found at the cities website: www.houstontx.gov/planning/historic pres/hist pres links.htm

Centennial Report:Louise Moss reported that Gala and Street Dance tickets are still available.  Fifteen(15)items will be available for the Silent Auction at the Bayland Home front porch.  All the furniture pieces have been decorated by local artists.

 

Preservation Fair will be November 3rd, at Woodland Park.

 

Committees are still working on the Front Porch Book.  If anyone would like to have their porch photographed, contact Louise Moss or Pat Rutledge.

 

Tree trunk wrapping will be completed on Saturday, the 13th for the Street Dance.  The trees on the Norhill Esplanade were trimmed on October 9th.

 

Officer Reports:

R.C.Hayden reported a YTD balance of $8,169.29 by email.

 

Vicky Bettis reported 518 members with a balance of $2,2015.  A third mailing for membership will go out soon.

 

Pat Hallmark no comment

 

Peggy Lindow asked that as many as possible attend City Council on October 16, 2007 to show support for the tunnel connecting  I45 from the Beltway to Downtown.  More details are available on the I45 Coalition website: Or check out our website at  www.I-45Coalition.org The information will also be posted on the Bulletin Board.

 

Deborah Dunten provided the group with wonderful homemade cookies.

 

Yvonne Meyers won the door prize (note cards).
