A representative from State Representative Jessica Farrar’s office gave a brief commentary on Melissa Noriega, and encouraged all to vote on May 12th.
Guest Speaker
Resident Jason Guyre’s topic was “Protesting The Value of Your Residential Property Taxes.” Jason successfully protested his property taxes in years past and shared his process with attendees. (procedure attached)
Centennial
Committee: Louise Moss reported that construction will begin
immediately on the next two monuments for the neighborhood. They will be placed at the Watson Street
Esplanade and I45 at

The Preservation Fair is still in need of volunteers.
Officer Reports:
R.C.Hayden reported a balance of $12,701.95. The 2007-2008 budgets has been adopted by the Board. Several projects including fence repair at Travis Elementary are under discussion by the Board.
Vicky Bettis will have a fund raiser in June for the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition. She will be asking for donations of items to fulfill their wish list.
We currently have 381 members. This reflects a total of $15,910
There will be a second membership mail out targeting members who joined in 2006-2007, but who have not paid their 2007-2008 dues
Mike Thompson reported that the missing tiles from the neighborhood street corners have been found, and are safely stored until further decisions are made. The widening of I45 is on hold as TX Dot deals with the Federal Government concerning the validity and cost of widening I45.
A beer and wine in house liquor license has been applied for at 729 Studewood. (This is in the strip center by the Saver store)
Sharon Greiff is resurveying areas that are having trouble with Lot Preservation. New regulations have been passed by the city, and may make this easier to accomplish. She is currently working in the Beauchamp and Morrison areas.
George Fereday has been out of town, so he asked Tony Mulaski to speak on their behalf.
Tony Mulaski reported that Allegro Builders has been cooperating reasonably well. recently.
Many recent phone calls have implied that homeowners want to keep their bungalows, and are asking how they can enlarge their homes, and keep the look of the neighborhood
Tony encouraged all to keep a close look out for violations concerning setbacks, and especially new construction.
Beth Martin was out of town, but corresponded by email. She encouraged all to call the non-emergency number for HPD, 713-884-3131 to report theft of items from your yard, cars, and break-ins of unoccupied garages. A threat to your individual safety should be reported to: 911.
Beth is still in the process of organizing a Citizen’s On Patrol (COP) volunteer group. If you are interested in participating, please email or call her. Beth Martin @ beth.rosemar@gmail.com

Felicia Zbranek announced that the General Meeting will take a summer vacation, and resume again in September. The Board will continue their monthly meetings.
