Friends of the Esplanade

The Friends of the Esplanade is a group of 10 or 12 neighbors who volunteer to maintain the esplanade at the Watson Street entrance to Woodland Heights. We are organized so that each person/couple is responsible for one month during the year to pick up trash and to do any general maintenance that is required. We meet occasionally for cleanup days or as needed to add more plants and mulch. Most of the plants chosen for the esplanade are native perennials for low maintenance and we do not use chemicals for weed or fire ant control. Our biggest volunteer day is the first Saturday morning in December when we gather to decorate the esplanade for Lights in the Heights®. We very much appreciate our WH neighbors who when driving by the esplanade will roll down the window and say thanks when they see us, either individually or as a group, working at the esplanade. It's nice to be appreciated! To volunteer, email beautification@woodland-heights.org or call 713.397-9336
