Historic Homes and Landscaping
This historic home on Bayland Avenue, with its traditional four-square design, wraparound porch and white picket fence, is typical of the housing stock in our area. People from all over Houston are flocking back to our neighborhood to rediscover the charm of an earlier era. Many are making the effort to remodel and update these old homes with all the modern creature comforts, while still lovingly preserving all of their previous historic character.

Bungalows
The bungalows shown here are typical of the traditional architecture in the neighborhood. Many neighorhood bungalows get their style from the turn-of-the-century Arts and Crafts movement, which was all the rage as our neighborhood was being built in the early 1900s.

Tunnel of Live Oaks
Bayland Avenue, with its tunnel of live oaks, is the "main street" of Woodland Heights. Stretching for 10 blocks between Studewood and Houston Avenue, this overhanging canopy of grand live oak trees serves as the stunning centerpiece for our neighborhood. Bayland is also the main avenue for our Lights in the Heights® Celebration each December.

Scenic Streets
This shady street scene is right across from White Oak park. The houses here have a clear view of the downtown skyline.
