2008 WHCA Board Title Tile
The City of Houston adopted a Historic Preservation Ordinance in 1995 in order to save our City's history.  Without the Historic Preservation Ordinance, a neighborhood’s history as identified through its architecture can be at risk.  The preservation of Houston’s historic resources provides visible reminders of our diverse cultural heritage, encourages civic pride and boosts economic prosperity. Woodland Heights Subdivision (see map) will be the first subdivision in the neighborhood to begin the process of acquiring Historic Designation status.
What's Historic Designation all about?
We have several documents that will help explain the purpose, the process and the rewards of Historic Designation:

Overview of Historic Designation
Frequently Asked Questions
Summary of Ordinance and Economic Benefits
What can do to help?
We have a full contingent of Block Captains that will need help gathering signatures.  In addition we will be creating an inventory of all the homes within Woodland Heights subdivision (digital camera required) . If you would like to volunteer. please email us
Can I sign the petition now?
Yes!!!
You can download one of our blank petitions.  All owners of record need to sign the petition.  To obtain your Block and Lot information you can go to www.hcad.org
When will the other subdivisions start the Historic Designation process?
"We" can't do it on our own - we need people to lead the effort for their subdivisions.  We've got the methods, the forms, the documentation but it's a community effort to obtain the designation.  If you are interested, please contact Sharon Greiff at sharon@glassattraction.net
